Inter’s Midfield Can Be Transformed By Brozovic-Nainggolan Combo

With neither Luka Modric nor Arturo Vidal arriving at the Nerazzurri in the summer, Inter manager Luciano Spalletti has been tasked for finding a solution for the midfield and according to Tuttosport he has a solution in a Marcelo Brozovic-Radja Nainggolan midfield combo.

“Brozovic was the star of the team in the final phase of last season. Positioned as a regista, the Croatian, inconsistent by nature was able to give Inter a hand in the run-in to achieving fourth place and then also help Croatia to the final of the World Cup. He didn’t perform in games against Sassuolo and Torino but Spalletti will be able to bring Brozovic back to the levels of last season and above all he will have to turn it into a really consistent player, that guarantees thirty high level games and not just a dozen.”

“It will then be Nainggolan’s task to make his contribution from midfield up. The Belgian has not been seen so far – he was injured on 18 July – and for this reason, he has not played a minute with Brozovic, whether it be in a friendly match or a competitive match.

“Nainggolan – now recovered and ready to debut on Saturday against Bologna – is the attacking trequartista that Inter missed last season. He is a player able to fill the spaces behind Icardi and bring those goals that the Nerazzurri midfielded have failed to guarantee previously. Nainggolan will also bring in his personality, character and “grinta” to encourage his teammates in moments of apathy.”
