Vecino Tops Serie A’s Distance Covered Stats After Two Matches

Matias Vecino has covered more ground than any other player in Serie A during the first two weeks of the new season, according to statistics released on the league’s website.

Vecino played the full 90 minutes in both of Inter’s opening two matches against Sassuolo and Torino and did not receive particularly favourable reviews for his performances, but the Uruguayan currently has an average distance covered per game of 12.432 kilometres, which puts him top of the early table in that respect.

Fiorentina’s Marco Benassi is second with 12.204 while Milan midfielder Franck Kessie lies third with 12.158, although both have only played one match so far after their teams’ opening day matches were postponed following the Ponte Morandi tragedy in Genoa.

Vecino returned late to preseason training following his participation at this summer’s FIFA World Cup, but these figures would suggest that it won’t be too long before he has reached peak fitness.
