Gabriel Barbosa is slowly but surely returning to being Gabigol, with his hat trick in Santos’ 3-0 away win over Vasco da Gama just the latest confirmation of this in the eyes of Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The hat trick took the Inter youngster’s goal tally to 19 for the season across all competitions for the Peixe, where he is on loan until the end of the current calendar year.

His form while on loan raises the question what is next for him at the Nerazzurri, where he could well be given a second chance of sorts upon returning from loan come January.

The Brazilian joined Inter in the summer of 2016 in a €30 million deal from Santos but faced many problems in his maiden campaign in Italy where he found playing time largely limited and certainly not helped by the multiple changes of managers. He spent the first half of last season on loan with Benfica but again struggled to adapt to his new surroundings before being sent back to Santos on a year long loan.
