Inter duo Mauro Icardi and Lautaro Martinez left for the United States yesterday where they will link up with the Argentine national team, who are playing two friendlies Stateside during the international break.
Both players however are injured with injuries to their thigh and calf respectively. In a bid to negate to the risk of aggravating injuries, Inter directors in assistance with the medical staff at the club phoned the Argentine national team and requested that both players should not play due to them not being in tip-top condition.
It is unclear how the Argentine national team responded to the request but Inter’s request could be helped even just slightly by club legend Walter Samuel, who is in fact a member of the Seleccion’s coaching staff. Samuel, who spent nine years with the Nerazzurri between 2005 and 2014, could keep an eye on both player’s conditions or at least that is what the Inter hierarchy are hopeful of.
