The financial fair play system has never looked better according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, especially from a Serie A viewpoint.

Italian football has traditionally always worked at a deficit but in the last season found themselves €85 million up rather than in the red. While the figure seems miniature in the grand scheme of things with football being the multi billion industry that it is today, it shows things are changing for the better and a healthier, fairer game is to be enjoyed in the future.

Overall, the European game has a turnover of about €20 billion, just shy of €15 billion of which belongs to the top five leagues in Europe in the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1. The Premier League tops the lists with a turnover of €5.34 billion, Spain is second with €2.89 billion, Germany third with €2.8 billion, Italy fourth with €2.2 billion and France fifth with €1.64 billion.
