In an interview with Radio Rai, Parma manager Roberto D’Aversa spoke on his side’s surprise 1-0 victory over Inter at the weekend and insisted that his players deserved the victory for the way they performed.

“We took to the field not ruling out the possibility of getting a result. There are many episodes that helped us to get it. Dimarco came in for Gobbi, who got hurt, and he decided the match. The result is a reward for these guys because they have performed very well.”

D’Aversa proceeded to discuss the controversial episodes from the match, including the penalty that Inter could have been given and a potential sending off for Roberto Gagliardini.

“I am not totally convinced that if we reviewed it so many times we would be sure it was a penalty kick. To date two different newspapers say the opposite, one says it was a penalty and the other says it isn’t. I have not seen any Inter fans complain about something else either as for me, without causing controversy, the most sensational episode is the failure to send off Gagliardini.”

D’Aversa also spoke on Inter’s Champions League match with Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow.

“The match against Tottenham is totally different for Inter in terms of motivation. It is better to go on the pitch immediately after a defeat with anger because of the lack of results.”
