Inter’s Vice-President Javier Zanetti was interviewed by Inter Media House in their online magazine Matchday Programme released on the club’s official homepage ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash against Tottenham at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.

The former Nerazzurri captain spoke of his memories of representing Inter in the competition stating that: “It’s an extraordinary competition. You play all the strongest teams in Europe, you have all of San Siro behind you, supporting you. It’s the natural environment for a club like Inter.

“I remember my first match in the Champions League, it was in Pisa against Skonto Riga. I came on in the first minute of the second half, substituting for Ze Elias. We won 4-0 and from that moment on it was unconditional love.”

When did you tell each other for the first time that season that we can win this?

“In Kiev, without a doubt. We were practically out of the group and we snatched it at the last second. That moment triggered something in each of us. Then Chelsea gave us the awareness that we could take on anyone and after the home game against Barcelona we knew we could go all the way.”

How many timed have you watched the final Inter – Bayern Munich?

“Every time they show it. If I am channel-hopping and come across the match, I’ll stop and watch it. It gets me every time.”
