With Mauro Icardi set to make his first appearance in the Champions League in a few hours time, Gazzetta dello Sport have recalled the Champions League debuts of some of Inter’s strikers in years gone by.

Ronaldo played his first game in the Champions League for Inter back in 1998 in a 2-0 defeat to future employers Real Madrid.

Diego Milito was given his Champions League baptism at the age of 30 in the 0-0 draw at the Camp Nou against Barcelona.

Adriano meanwhile went one better than both Ronaldo and Milito did on their debuts, scoring one goal in the first leg of a Champions League qualifier against Basel. In his debut in the Champions League proper, the Brazilian striker received an 8/10 rating in the media and a banner was unfurled that stated, “Adriano King Of Milano.” Then 22-years-old, he went on to score 10 goals in 9 Champions League games, inclusive of the preliminary rounds.
