Inter defender Milan Skriniar reflected upon Inter’s win over Tottenham Hotspur on the opening match day of the Champions League group stages in an interview with Inter TV.

“We conceded an unlucky goal which was a pity as we were always compact in the game. We always wanted to win it and at the end we managed to do it, this is very important for us as there has been an injection of confidence, especially after the bad start in the league. Now with this victory we have put everything back in place. Now we have to continue like this and be a team.”

The Slovakian defender also played out of position at right back but didn’t appear too bothered by it given the result. The match was also his first in the Champions League and he reflected on his first experience.

“I had never played in the role of right back before but the important thing is to do whatever is best for Inter. It was a beautiful evening and the fans gave us a big hand, and then there is that music…it is beautiful.”
