In a column for Corriere della Sera, former referee Paolo Casarin reviewed the VAR system following a weekend where it saw a lot of usage including three incidents alone in Inter’s win over Sampdoria.
“In the field there are clear and less clear refereeing errors that can only be clarified after the review. How many goals have been conceded, with objective irregularities such as an offside? The technology has developed so much so that an offside position can be evaluated almost close to perfection. Technology is now able to monitor the whole field. The technology is overwhelming and can not be limited by bureaucracy.”
Casarin also commented on Inter’s two cancelled goals in their 1-0 win over Sampdoria in the weekend.
“In Samp-Inter the goal of Radja Nainggolan was cancelled for the offside of Danilo D’Ambrosio. VAR also noticed the ball out of play before Asamoah’s goal and cancelled that out too.”
