Italian football pundit Daniele Adani spoke with Gazzetta dello Sport on Inter and their current situation and called on the players of the Nerazzurri to fully buy in to the idea of manager Luciano Spalletti if they wish to succeed.
“Inter were weakened at the beginning of the transfer window by the losses of Champions Joao Cancelo and Rafinha. The strategy they chose thereafter to replace them was interesting. Now Spalletti has to find the way to make Inter play well together. They still have to be evaluated in terms of understanding and results. They have to buy in to the ideas of the coach, it is not enough to simply understand them.”
Adani proceeded to speak on captain Mauro Icardi, who has not been his usual goal scoring self at this early stage of the campaign.
“He is improving in his virtues but there is still a question mark above the other aspects of the game. He has to grow in terms of learning to sacrifice. He is a striker who scores a lot but does not participate in the build up. The fixation about only being able to play in the penalty box needs removed and if so he will definitely explode. Also do not forget that Nainggolan has yet to link up with Mauro.”
Adani then looked toward the game with Fiorentina in a few hours time.
For Spalletti and his team this is a more delicate game than the one with Samp. Putting in a good performance and getting a result would lead to the awareness that the path they are on is the right one and the San Siro effect would start to really make itself felt.”
