Mauro Iardi is still searching for his first Serie A goal of the campaign. Inter have so far played five Serie A fixtures this term and the club captain has been goalless but it has to be remembered that he himself has not played in all five games so the talk of him being in crisis is a bit premature.

Icardi has seen Capocannonire rivals Cristiano Ronaldo, Ciro Immobile and Gonzalo Higuain all score already this season but he has only played two games from the start and one as a substitute.

Part of the 25-year-old’s problem this year – in the eyes of Turin based newspaper Tuttosport – is he has not been involved as much and has been starved of service from teammates and has had very few clear cut chances in the matches he has played with which to take a serious goalscoring attempt at goal.

Since arriving from Sampdoria in 2013, Icardi has netted 108 goals in 187 appearances across all competitions, a very impressive average strike rate of 0.57 goals per game.
