Respected Italian journalist Carlo Laudisa has looked at the contrasting situations of Inter and Fiorentina ahead of the two clubs meeting in a few hours time and discussed them with Gazzetta dello Sport.
“At Inter, the Zhang family had to free themselves from the burden of financial fair play. Despite this they had Sporting Director Piero Ausilio working hard on the transfer market to give Spalletti a team capable of fighting for the highest goals in the league and in the Champions League. With these premises it is obvious that everyone expects everything and for it to be done immediately.”
Laudisa then discussed the situation at La Viola.
“Fiorentina made a courageous choice that, at first, divided opinion but Pantaleo Corvino has given Stefano Pioli a team that already has many appetising players and a team that not only looks rejuvenated but one that Florence can be proud of. They can have a season full of satisfaction. Remember in recent months the owners have knocked back offers from Inter and Juventus for their top players too.”
