Respected Italian football pundit and journalist Matteo Marani spoke on the anti-Juventus tag perhaps being a hindrance to Inter thus far this season in an interview with Sky Sport.
“Inter are walking on a very thin thread as there is always tension because they have been hastily brandished as the anti-Juventus and when they fail on the pitch, they are then failing in carrying this out,” he said.
Marani also spoke on the need for Mauro Icardi in particular to grow again following a difficult start to the campaign for him and for the Nerazzurri to also do so just in general.
“Spalletti won Inter the match against Sampdoria by speaking with Icardi and asking him to play for the team. He [Icardi] needs to grow together with the rest of Inter and use Spalletti’s words to him as fuel to do better. It is clear that the team needs to grow in terms of how they play just in general.”
