Inter’s dependence on Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic for goals, after all these years, may finally have come to an end at least according to a report in Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

According to the report: “In the first seven official matches of the 2018-19 season, the team has displayed an incredible vocation to score in the last 15 minutes so far the tally sits at six and there is a clear decrease in the contributions of Perisic and Icardi.”

Last season, Spalletti’s team scored 66 goals and 40 of these came from either the Argentine or Croatian. In percentages this is 60%. However, out of the 10 goals that have been scored so far this season, only 4 or 40% of those bear the mark of Icardi or Perisic. This is certainly a positive evolution, because it means the coach can develop his attacking style to fit a larger variety of players. For their opponents, this means that it’ll be harder for them to predict where the danger is.

At this point, there are 8 players on the score sheet, excluding Mauro and Ivan, the others include: De Vrij, Nainggolan, Candreva, Vecino, Brozovic and D’Ambrosio.
