Inter’s win against Cagliari was considered to be Lautaro Martinez’s match as the Argentine was able to break the deadlock against the Sardinians, and scoring his first goal in the Serie A with his first shot on goal. Lautaro, you scored a great goal tonight. What is it like to score at the San Siro?
“I’m very happy. It is my first goal here. These are important moments for me and for my growth. I’m even happier that we secured the three points, it’s important for our ranking.”
Spalletti said: ‘Lautaro is very strong, but sometimes we use him too much.’ What do you think he meant?
“I’m very happy with these compliments, I just have to work day after day to show that I deserve this very important jersey.”
Lautaro, you scored your first goal in the Serie A. Do you feel better playing as a number 9, as compared to the role you played against Sassuolo?
“I’ve been playing there for a long time in Racing, so obviously I’m fine with it, but I’m completely at the disposal of the coach, it is up to him where I play. I personally feel very comfortable in this position, but if the coach asks me, I will do anything he says.”
Did you get to talk with Mauro Icardi before and after the match?
“Yes, he told me to stay calm and to only think about playing. I’m happy and satisfied to have played this way, it only improves my confidence and the confidence I have with my teammates.”
