Andrea Agnelli has been the driving force behind Massimo Moratti’s name being mentioned in relation to being the next FIGC President according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.

Agnelli, who is the president of Juventus, has submitted the former Inter owner and president’s name to Lega Serie A president Gaetano Micciché who will now seek to find out what the clubs think of Moratti taking on the role.

As per the report from the Milan based newspaper, Moratti is flattered but at the same time very sceptical about it all. His scepticism stems from the fact he will have to go face-to-face with Gabriele Gravina who appears to be the favourite to become the new president when the vote takes place in little under three weeks time.

Moratti served as Inter president and owner between 1995 and 2013 before Indonesian tycoon Erick Thohir came in and bought a majority stake in the club and took over the role of president from him.
