Inter have struggled to cope with the departures of Jose Mourinho and Massimo Moratti and continue to miss their presence today, according to Regina Baresi.

Regina, daughter of former Inter midfielder Giuseppe Baresi and niece of Milan legend Franco, is captain of Inter’s amateur women’s team, ASD Inter Milano, and was interviewed by Gazzetta dello Sport on Sunday.

ASD Inter Milano is not officially affiliated with F.C. Internazionale at the moment but Inter are reportedly preparing to bring the club under their wing in the next few months.

“I’ve always decided to stay with Inter and I’ve been repaid for that,” Baresi said.

“At the moment we’re in Serie B because Inter didn’t want to buy out another club: they’ve decided to grow with us and it won’t be long before the affiliation between the two clubs is made official.

“We’ve strengthened the squad to try and get into Serie A and our youth sector is good – there are lots of good young women who come through from the Primavera. I’m the fourth oldest player here now…

“Will Inter ever have another 2010? You hope so, but there’s still some work to do. The club have really felt Mourinho’s absence [since he left], and the same goes for Moratti: there are no reference points like him at the moment.

“My dreams for the future? To play in Serie A and to become a mother. I can’t achieve that at the moment as I have plenty of other things to do, but I can’t wait to have a child.”
