In an interview with lospallino.com, SPAL defender Thiago Cionek shared his disappointment following the 2-1 loss to Inter last night.

“We repeated the performance we put in Atalanta, which was a demonstration of great intensity and the spirit of sacrifice. We played with conviction and it is really a shame to have lost, especially after having managed to get the game level again. The performance was there, we did what was asked of us by the coach so there is a lot of regret but we lost to an Inter side in a great shape at the moment. The mistakes we made push us to improve and we have shown many good things against Inter as we did against Atalanta and Sampdoria.”

Cionek, a Polish international of Brazilian origin, then spoke on Inter captain Mauro Icardi who scored both of the Nerazzurri’s goals.

“Icardi is a very high quality player and only needs a slight chance to score.”
