Croatia national team manager Zlatko Dalic has spoken on the decision to send Inter defender Sime Vrsaljko back home to Inter to allow him to recover.
“Vrsaljko could have played against England but we decided not to risk him, this is the same for Borna Barišić,” Dalic explained in an interview with HNTV.
Vrsaljko made his first appearance in a number of weeks over the weekend and Dalic had previously alluded that Vrsaljko could be sent home in order to allow him to rest and recover so it came as little surprise when confirmation arrived.
