Roberto Gagliardini will not be among the 11 starters when Italy take on Ukraine tonight according to a report from Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Paris Saint Germain’s Marco Verratti, Cagliari’s Nicolo Barella and Chelsea’s Jorginho are to be preferred to the Inter midfielder for the international friendly that is scheduled to kick off at 20:45 CET at Genoa and Sampdoria’s shared Stadio Luigi Ferraris home.

The 24-year-old is Inter’s sole representative in Roberto Mancini’s squad after Danilo D’Ambrosio was forced to pull out from the squad through injury, that also kept him out of Inter’s 2-1 win over SPAL at the weekend. After the Ukraine match, the Azzurri play host to USA in another international friendly match which will present Gagliardini with another opportunity to start.

Italy Probable Line-up to face Ukraine (4-3-3): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Alessandro Florenzi, Leonaro Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Cristiano Biraghi; Marco Verratti, Jorginho, Nicolo Barella; Federico Bernardeschi, Lorenzo Insigne, Federico Chiesa.
