Just like at Inter – barring the one game – Lautaro Martinez and Mauro Icardi will not partner one another on international duty but both be tasked to lead the line on their own in each of Argentina’s games over the international break instead.

On Thursday, Argentina will play Iraq in a friendly match and as per a report from Clarin, Lautaro will be the one who gets the nod for this match. After the Iraq match, Argentina entertain arch-rivals Brazil in another friendly and it is here where Mauro Icardi will get his chance to lead the line.

Lautaro has made one previous appearance for La Seleccion and is highly likely to see a lot more international action in years to come with Argentina opting to go down a new path including younger players after a disappointing World Cup performance. Icardi on the other hand has earned a handful of international appearances and like Lautaro is still searching for the goal to open up his account with the national team.
