Former Inter president and owner Massimo Moratti has reviewed Inter’s season so far among other topics in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.

“At the beginning of the season I saw a negative start and it was not clear how long it could last but the team reacted well with character and then the awakening of Icardi has been very important, the team has a great finisher.

“Inter showed in the Champions League that they are strong and can play well, maybe it is a team thought more for the Champions League than for the league. It seemed the hardest thing in the world being in the most difficult group of all but Inter are facing it in a brilliant way.”

Moratti also spoke on Milan and the upcoming Milan derby

“Milan is doing well and they too have a great striker in Higuain. I imagine a nice derby.”

Moratti then spoke on two of his favourite new arrivals over the summer in Lautaro Martinez and Kwadwo Asamoah.

“I like Martinez. He creates space for himself and is intelligent. I also like Asamoah. He has great experience and can give us a big hand.”
