SPAL president Walter Mattioli has reflected upon his side’s narrow defeat at the hands of Inter at the weekend in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.

“Against Inter we played a great game. Next we have a game with Roma then thereafter we will have a direct clash against Frosinone that will tell us many things about ourselves.”

Mattioli also spoke on Inter linked Manuel Lazzari and the midfielder being snubbed of an international call-up.

“I was very surprised because he is one of the best at a national level and he had played great against both Samp and Inter. He deserves it.

“We have done everything to keep him in Ferrara. We will struggle to keep him longer though because interest from some important teams has arrived. I can not hold him back but I do not yet know the price it will take, myself and the director have not decided on it yet.”
