Former Inter winger Francesco Moriero spoke exclusively with Italian media outlet TMW about the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday as well as his own memories of playing in the fixture.

The former Nerazzurri winger began by looking forward to the match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Sunday night predicting that: “It will be a balanced match and a beautiful match to watch. The derby is always the derby, a challenge that you wait for months and months for and that can have a strong influence on the mood of the whole club. The Nerazzurri have found the right continuity after the comeback win in the Champions League against Tottenham. They have grown amazingly well and the derby will surely be the right occasion to try to lengthen and consolidate this winning streak.”

“On the other hand Gattuso is working hard, it is not easy when you always have a thousand eyes on you. But his Milan plays great football and he is proving that he is definitely prepared for the job.”

Moriero was asked who he supports in Sunday’s clash to which he replied: “Obviously Inter, it’s true that I was close to wearing the Milan shirt, but in my career the Nerazzurri has represented so much for me, I have experienced unforgettable moments there.”

The former Nerazzurri winger then turned to his own experience playing in this fixture with Brazilian Ronaldo stating that: “if I think about the derby, I’m immediately reminded of the great cross pass I made which cut the Rossoneri’s defense wide open for Ronaldo’s goal and the 3-0 victory in ’97 -’98, but also my goal in the 2-2 draw the following season. It was spectacular, it was really exciting to send the ball into the back of the net. I had a lot of fun together with Ronaldo, and moments like the derby, with the whole stadium boiling, still give me goosebumps.”
