Nicola Berti has described the Derby della Madonnina as an “incredibly special match” and hopes Radja Nainggolan can be the match-winner for the Nerazzurri on Sunday night.
Luciano Spalletti’s side will be chasing a seventh straight win in all competitions as they face Milan at San Siro this evening, before turning their attention to Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.
Berti gave an interview to the club’s match-day program and reminisced on some derby memories from his playing career, as well as picking out his favourite three Inter players from recent history.
“The derby was a special match, incredibly special,” he said.
“I felt that match more than any other match and I was always decisive in it – you don’t know how great a feeling that was…
“I scored three goals in the derby, although one of them wasn’t awarded to me – the one that deflected off Sebastiano Rossi and bounced in – what a strike!
“Then there was the other during the 1993-94 season. It lasted about four minutes in total, from the nutmeg on Costacurta to the unfair booking I received after scoring.
“And then there’s the goal I scored five minutes from the end under Milan’s curva. Infinite glory.
“Radja is the perfect player for a derby, because he never gives up, never holds back and has real grit.
“I also loved Dejan Stankovic, who drove me crazy with joy, but if I have to choose one player I have to choose Ronaldo. Il Fenomeno, the real one.”
