Inter captain Mauro Icardi stopped by Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia to share his thoughts on tonight’s Champions League group stage clash at the Camp Nou against FC Barcelona.
The Nerazzurri captain began by talking about the Camp Nou stating that: “It’s one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world, it will be spectacular to play here with all the fans, the stadium will be impressive, it will be even more beautiful, Inter arrive in a great moment. We did well before the break and now we arrive after winning the derby, the winning mentality is very important”
Have you seen the video of yourself following your movement leading up to the goal against AC Milan?
“I’m surprised, I did not expect a camera that solely focused on me. I liked it and I then posted it myself as well. They have seen my characteristics inside the area and it makes me proud. Scoring a goal like this at the derby still fills me with excitement.”
What are your thoughts about Lionel Messi missing the match?
“We have to do well in all areas, Barcelona have players of the highest level at an individual level, they can play without Messi too. We have to take advantage of this, but we must not underestimate the fact that he will not be on the pitch.”
