Sampdoria striker Fabio Quagliarella has spoken on if there was ever a chance of him joining Milan during his career and the change in what it takes to be considered by the big clubs in comparison to earlier in his career.
“There was a slight possibility when I was at Sampdoria back in 2006 but in the end I chose to go Udinese instead. At the time Milan had Pippo Inzaghi, Ronaldo and Kaka. I always tell my mother that had I been born a few years later I would have been fine and I would have been there. Nowadays, you only need a few good games and Juventus, Milan and Inter want you,” the veteran striker said in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
He proceeded to discuss the feeling of playing at San Siro and recalled some of his memories from playing there.
“It fills you with emotion and gives you adrenaline. I have good memories of games played there. I remember that against Milan I won a penalty and then Luis Muriel scored it. While at Juventus I scored a double against Samir Handanovic back in 2013. A year and a half ago I got another penalty at San Siro and Handanovic was in front of me and I thought, ‘how big is he? where do I shoot?'”
