Gerard Marsman, the president of the Dutch coaches association, has commented on the recent failures of several Dutch managers in big jobs across Europe.

“I do not worry too much about the fact that currently no Dutch coach works in the five major leagues in Europe. I know that recently some Dutch coaches have been invited to join clubs in the Premier League, but they said no because they do not fit,” he told Dutch news outlet VoetbalPrimeur.

Marsman then spoke on former Inter manager Frank de Boer and how his poor spell at Inter should be a tale of caution to other Dutch managers looking to take on big jobs.

“I think he was put on the wrong track a number of times at Inter. You have to be ready immediately and this can be a lesson for the other Dutch managers.”

de Boer was made manager just two weeks prior to the commencement of the 2016/17 Serie A season and endured a torrid time on the bench and was sacked just 85 days after taking the job on.
