Inter and Milan have plans to lease the land round San Siro for the next 99 years rather than rent the stadium itself from the Milan city council, a report from Il Sole 24 Ore details.

The two clubs recently struck an agreement to work together on the stadium and the report details that work could have a total cost of around €200 million, a figure that will be split between the clubs, the city council and further offset by the selling of naming rights.

Juventus sold the naming rights to their Juventus Stadium making it the Allianz Stadium and earn some €55 million a year through stadium revenue and the Milanese clubs hope to treble their annual stadium revenues to earn roughly €100 million each.

The renovation project at San Siro is set to last four years and will see the third ring of the stadium removed – reducing the capacity down to around 65,000 – and replaced by catering and commercial facilities.
