Marc Overmars has admitted to being resigned to losing some of his side’s talents shortly but insists that while they are with the club he ought to enjoy them.

“It will be a difficult task to hold on to some players, as I have said many times. The newspapers write news about our players often but for now I can enjoy the group we have available to us every day but it is impossible to leave such a group intact for a number of years,” he said at the Ajax shareholders meeting today.

The former striker is completely prepared for what appears to be the inevitable and is already looking out for the next crop of talent.

“We look forward with confidence and hope to next season and I have already commissioned our scouts to start working, I have sent them to be busy, to throw out the nets and start reeling in the fish.

The likes of Mathijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong and Andre Onana have all been linked with moves away from the Dutch giants with Inter allegedly interested in de Jong.
