Borja Valero’s wife Rocio Rodriguez has spoken on her husband’s mood after Inter’s 4-1 hammering from Atalanta and how he was able to use the defeat to teach their children about losing.

“Between the result and him taking a blow to his nose, after the match against Atalanta he was certainly not in a good mood. In these cases he often avoids talking about football at home,” she said in an interview with Il Fuorigioco.

“However as a father, he understood that he must act as an example to the children and he wanted to teach them about how to accept a defeat.”

Rodriguez then spoke on her husband and the Spanish national team.

“Being in one of the generations of really strong midfielders did not help him. I wanted to see him play more for Spain.”

The veteran Spanish midfielder, who joined Inter in the summer of 2017 from Fiorentina, has saw limited use from the start this term but between a few starts and substitute appearances he has made a total of 11 appearances for 413 minutes where he has managed to contribute with one assist.
