Xherdan Shaqiri has hinted that a lack of patience may have been behind his unsuccessful spell with Inter in 2015.
Shaqiri joined the Nerazzurri from Bayern Munich in a deal worth €15 million and was greeted by a crowd of enthusiastic fans on his arrival, but he lasted just six months in Milan after struggling to adapt to life in Serie A.
The Swiss international scored only two goals in his 20 appearances under Roberto Mancini and left to sign for Stoke the following summer, where he remained for three seasons before heading to Liverpool.
“A lot of people mocked me when I joined Liverpool,” the 27 year-old told popular magazine Blick, “because they thought it was too big a club for me.
“But I’ve always stayed calm, even when I haven’t been playing much. Since my experiences with Inter and Bayern Munich I’ve learned to be patient, stay concentrated and make the most of my opportunity when it arises.”
