Inter now face competition from city rivals Milan for the signature of Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

The veteran centre back has no intentions of extending his expiring contract with the Spanish capital club and it is for this reason than Milan have entered the chase for him.

Milan director Leonardo has already taken initial steps toward signing him by enquiring about whether a move to the red side of Milan would be of interest to him once the contract is up in the summer.

With the 32-year-old being in possession of a Spanish passport, it helps both clubs in their respective pursuits of him who otherwise would have counted against their sacred non-EU quota’s next season.

Despite being on what many would call ‘the wrong side of 30’ Godin continues to be one of the best defenders in Europe and his experience could be invaluable to each side.
