Having been knocked back from Luka Modric in contract negotiations, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has no intention of trying to strike a deal with him again and will now direct his attention toward signing other players.
As a result of this, according to both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport, this opens the door for Modric to Inter again.
While Inter courted him, Modric wished to join his Croatian compatriots at the Nerazzurri but was kept at Los Blancos who wished to sign him to a bumper renewal worth around €15 million per year. The times have changed however and that no longer is a possibility.
The reports insist that this break down in relations happened back in August when Modric rejected Perez’ proposal and with Modric having just 12 months on his deal come the summer transfer window, he will be available for a modest figure. In the summer Inter should also have broken free from financial fair play and will then have no problems in going for him.
