Inter are keeping a close eye on FC Koln centre back Jorge Mere according to a report from Spanish newspaper El Desmarque.

The Nerazzurri are on the lookout for a young defender with a view of them replacing the ageing Miranda and the Spaniard is the latest name on the shortlist that includes the likes of Sampdoria’s Joachim Andersen and Atalanta’s Gianluca Mancini.

Inter are however not alone in courting the 21-year-old, who is under contract with the 2. Bundesliga club until the end of the 2021/22 season. As per the report, there are several Bundesliga clubs keen on signing him also.

The report goes on to state that Koln rejected an €8 million offer from Sampdoria in the summer which would suggest that it will take a sum larger than that to take him away from the Mungersdorfer Stadion.

This season, he has made 11 appearances across all competitions and has helped his side to record three clean sheets in that time.
