Karl-Heinz Rummenigge expressed his gratitude toward former Inter president Ernesto Pellegrini who signed him for the Nerazzurri back in 1984.

“I am grateful to Ernesto Pellegrini for bringing me to Inter at that moment. We still have a very good relationship and we talk on a regular basis, he was a great president. I was able to learn a lot from him. I learned a lot of useful life lessons.

The German then spoke on his best goal for Inter.

“The one against the Rangers in Europe. It was a bicycle kick scored from an impossible position. Unfortunately, the German referee Volker Roth cancelled it out, perhaps because of dangerous play, until today I do not agree with this decision. Of the goals that counted…it was the scissor kick against Torino that was definitely the best goal of my career.”

He proceeded to speak on his former strike partner Alessandro Altobelli.

“I continue to call him regularly, we were two extraordinary strike partners. I had a wonderful and successful period with him, he was a fantastic striker, a real top scorer: I still have the utmost respect for him.”

He concluded by speaking on current Inter striker Mauro Icardi.

“He is a goal machine with great qualities and excellent finishing skills. he is certainly a very interesting player, recently, thanks to his performances with the Inter shirt he earned a place in the Argentine national team.”
