Joao Mario has spoken on being frozen out of the Inter team and his recent upturn in form that has seen him play a lot as of late.

“It was tough for me when I was not playing in so many games and I was thinking about where I could change myself [in order to play]. Now I am trying to do my best and I will always be ready when I am needed. The important thing is to be ready so that when the opportunity arrives I can continue to do well,” he revealed in an interview with Sky Sport.

The Portuguese looked almost destined to leave the club during the summer transfer window after going on record highlighting his dislike for the Italian game. Luciano Spalletti sprung a huge surprise when he named him in the starting eleven against Lazio back in October and the 25-year-old hasn’t looked back since and proved to be a more than suitable option for the midfield.
