Alice Arienta, the vice-president sport commissioner for the city of Milan, discussed the current situation with regard to San Siro and firstly spoke on the idea of Inter and Milan being leased the land for 99 years.

“These are types of contracts that already exist in Milan for other structures. An example is the farmhouses. At the administrative level there must be a limit, which can be precisely 99 years. Although in this case it would seem a bit long. The new Milan director Ivan Gazidis has shown interest in this idea and we must wait and see if it is the same case for Inter,” she said in an interview with FCInterNews.it.

She then spoke on the possibility of the clubs restructuring San Siro.

It is necessary to ascertain the will of both Inter and Milan in order to focus on a structure that represents a historical reference point for the city of Milan. If the two teams wanted to restructure the Meazza, it would be advisable for them to get together and agree on things together. Let’s say that the hypothesis of restructuring the Meazza is very plausible given the historicity of the San Siro area and also very simply for the investments already made in the area such as building of the metro line.”

Arienta then went on to speak about where else a stadium could be built should the clubs opt to move away from San Siro.

“Where could a new stadium be built? As declared by the Mayor, there is Baggio but there are certain restrictions while I think Rogoredo is an ideal area.”

She concluded by speaking on if she thinks the situation is close to being solved.

“Let’s hope so, it is what we wish forThere is always talk of complex situations and we must take into account the will of not one but of both the clubs. The hope is that finally everything will go in the same direction.”
