To suggest Inter have been plagued by mental fragility in recent seasons would be an understatement. For this reason, many fans were concerned that their shock Champions League exit would set the club up for another disappointing run.

However, former Inter player Francesco Colonnese, is confident that the side have already moved on – citing their hard-fought victory over Udinese as evidence: “[The psychological backlash] does not exist because the squad has already reacted by winning.”

The Italian, speaking to RMC Sport, continued: “Inter arrived at the San Siro with the knowledge that they had missed an incredible opportunity only four days earlier. Even if they scored late and via a penalty, they played with the correct attitude and you could see that they had already abandoned the bitterness of elimination.”

Inter will take confidence from that result into their final three matches prior to the Serie A winter break, starting with bottom-placed Chievo Verona this week.
