Annual salary aside, one of the other main stumbling blocks in contract talks between Inter and Mauro Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara is the release clause according to Corriere dello Sport.

His current release clause is set at €110 million and only available for foreign clubs to activate in the first two weeks of July. Inter are hoping to eliminate the clause from the new deal to have more control when clubs come sniffing while Wanda simply wishes to see a release clause remain in place and increased.

Wanda’s recent comments have caused tension and she has deployed the same tactics that earned her client an improved deal not even two years ago. Inter do not wish to face a media battle every time she decides that Icardi should receive a new contract so much so that they could even evaluate the possibility of  letting him leave, despite the obvious problems they would face in finding a suitable replacement.
