Former Palermo and Roma midfielder Fabio Simplicio has revealed what football he thinks best suits the needs of Inter striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa.

“He had a great season where he was named the league’s top scorer. I do not know if he will return to Inter but in Brazil he was playing with freedom and was calm,” Simplicio said in an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb.

“At Inter he would still struggle as the football in Italy is different to that of Brazil. If a Brazilian does not play so much it is difficult for them. Brazil is the best environment for Gabigol to play in so he must stay here.”

The 22-year-old forward joined the Nerazzurri in 2016 to much fanfare but has completely failed to meet any expectations and Inter are reportedly keen to end the joint nightmare by moving him on to another club in the upcoming January transfer window.
