Inter barely created any chances before the goal but managed to go into half time with their noses in front. They came out positive but once Icardi missed a golden chance it was a matter of waiting for Chievo to score. This is the nightmare before Christmas that was talked about on Studio Inter.

Samir Handanovic – 5: When we are under pressure he wilts. Didn’t have much to do apart from one save which was great. Fluffed catches, strange decisions on their goal.

Sime Vrsaljko – 6: Battled hard on the right as Joao Mario and Politano messed up his movement and passing. Always ready for a scrap and continues his purple patch.

Stefan de Vrij – 5: Struggled for the first time at Inter. Lost his player many times, passed poorly and ultimately failed to chase Stepinski at the end that led to the goal.

Milan Skriniar – 5.5: Not his finest game. De Vrij was not having a good game and Skriniar was harried a lot. Made simple mistakes with the ball as well. Lost his cool.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6: On the left this time, not his natural position but he gave it his best. Passing was poor like everyone else but that assist was placed perfectly for Ivan.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6: Had a fine game defensively, going forward he never had passes, options or team-mates in space. Booked because of Joao Mario’s poor passing.

Joao Mario – 5.5 : Joao Mario has qualities when we have the ball a lot. Always does a lot of running and work but it amounts to very little. Needs to improve quality.

Matteo Politano – 5: Matteo had his worst game in a long time. He was pushed around and couldn’t cope with the physical style of play. Should have been subbed off 1st.

Radja Nainggolan – 5.5: Still nowhere near fitness. However the quality manages to show itself. The only one who could hold up the ball and get Chievo players booked.

Ivan Perisic – 6: Great game till about the time he was turned into a makeshift left wing back. Looked dangerous whenever we attacked and deserved an assist too.

Mauro Icardi – 5: Its strange seeing Mauro coming so deep for the ball. Can’t doubt his hard work and quality on the first goal, but his miss proved very costly for us.

Matias Vecino – 6: Got some impact as the game was very physical and suited his style of play. His fresh legs helped. He brought a lot of quantity but no quality at all.

Lautaro Martinez – 5: When you want to show you deserve a starting spot that is not what you would like to see. Yes he won a few free kicks but couldn’t make an impact.

Borja Valero – 6: Should have come on much earlier. Like Radja he was the only one who could hold the ball and make us pass a little better. Too bad he isn’t younger.

Luciano Spalletti – 4.5: The first 40 mins were poor. Then we got the goal and played like we should for about 5 mins. The three-man defence still isn’t ready. Subs too late.

Pasqua – 6: Yes it was not a pretty game. He never lost control of the game and let some physical fouls go on both the sides. Used VAR correctly at the end.

Inter – 4.5: What a massive chance missed to go 3rd and seal it till the new year. Everyone could see we were going to concede, it was a matter of time. Poor.

Agree? Disagree? Should Lautaro get more minutes in Europe? Who do you think was Inter’s best player of the night?
