FIGC President Gabriele Gravina has refused to rule out suspending Serie A entirely following the racial abuse that Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly was subjected to during last night’s match between Inter and Napoli which Inter won 1-0.

“It [suspending Serie A] is something we will consider.

“Now we need to take a moment and coordinate ourselves: we have a problem of public order and as such it must be managed, as well as the fact of playing or not. I’m worried about this surreal climate. I’m not a psychologist, but it’s clear that some of the players were very nervous at San Siro,” he told Il Messaggero.

“Right now I’m in a period of reflection because what happened was very serious. We’ll hear from the ministry and CONI and then we’ll decide what to do.

“We’re verifying whether there were three calls for play to be stopped, but it seems only one was made. Today the prosecutor will intervene and say his piece, but what happened was very bad. The players were too nervous on the field. The referee will write what he thought, but if he made some mistakes then he’ll also be looked at.”
