Gazzetta dello Sport have examined the key refereeing decisions made by Silvio Mazzoleni in last night’s game between Inter and Napoli.

Inter ran out 1-0 winners with thanks to an injury time strike from substitute Lautaro Martinez in a game that saw two red cards awarded, a goal chopped off for offside and calls for a penalty in favour of Inter.

Firstly, the Milan based newspaper believe that Mazzoleni and his assistants were right to disallow Perisic’s goal for offside.

They then went on to examine the two red cards that were given to Napoli duo Kalidou Koulibaly and Lorenzo Insigne which they believe to be the correct decisions. Koulibaly was first booked in the second half for pulling back Matteo Politano twice as the Italian attempted to run down the wing. When shown the yellow card, the Senegalese sarcastically clapped at the referee’s decision which saw him given a straight red.

Lorenzo Insigne was also right to have been removed for hitting out at Keita Balde but Gazzetta believe Mazzoleni should have given Keita Balde a yellow card for provoking the Napoli star.

Finally, Inter had shouts for a penalty dismissed although Gazzetta are doubtful as to whether it was the right decision. Keita Balde broke in to the box and was taken to ground by Raul Albiol but Mazzoleni was very quick to wave play on.
