Legendary Inter goalkeeper, Francesco Toldo spoke to Sky Sports during the presentation of the Panini album in which he looks back at the times when he had to partake in the annual affair.
“It’s a great event, the album is much different from in the past. I remember when I played and the Lega photographers came in the morning, we were all asleep with our hair out of place. But now they are more attentive to the image. My favorite one? The very first one in ’93, in Serie B with Fiorentina, it still gets me excited.”
In the album, there is a section dedicated to goalkeepers:
“That’s right, because the goalkeeper gets the attention of the fans. But the role of the goalkeeper remains basic. The goalkeeper becomes an idol when he scores a penalty or scores a goal like a Brignoli against Milan. To me, against Juve, that was the funniest thing I’ve ever experienced personally in football. The goal is mine, not Vieri’s, we’re still joking about it 15 years later.”
Toldo concluded the interview with the message: “Inter will always be the protagonist.”
