Former Inter striker Aldo Serena has commented further on the renewal situation of Inter captain Mauro Icardi after earlier comments in the media.

“It is a complex case. On the one hand there are the needs and demands of Icardi, who is a top player without a doubt and deserves a contract befitting of a top player. On the other there is Inter, who must reason with calmness and clarity. The management know they have find the best solution which I think should be found in June,” he said in an interview with Sport Mediaset.

“We need to understand if Icardi really wants to stay at Inter. The economic issues can be smoothed out. I read about Inter’s offer of €7 million and Icardi’s requests of €10 million per year. If he stays at Inter it means that he is convinced by the project and the prospect of it and not just counting on money since he is also the team captain.”
