Inter are confident that they will be able to strike a deal with captain Mauro Icardi over a new contract with the club according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.

The Nerazzurri management are hoping to get things ironed out in no more than three meetings. As with any negotiation though, it depends on the will of all parties involved.

Icardi is currently under contract with Inter through to the end of the 2020/21 season and recent reports have suggested Inter are looking to prolong his stay at San Siro for another season.

The current status of negotiations is certainly complex. Icardi’s wife/agent Wanda Nara has lashed out at the club on several occasions while Icardi himself has also recently made his thoughts known on negotiations that have been going on for quite some time now.

In 22 games across all competitions this season, the 25-year-old hitman has scored 13 goals and also tallied two assists.
