Despite being on the receiving end of a 6-2 thumping from Inter, Benevento manager Cristian Bucchi remained upbeat and shared his delight with his side’s performance.

“After Inter went ahead early it made the match much more difficult for us but for this very reason I told the boys to play the game with an open mind and without thinking about the result,” Bucchi told Inter TV after the Coppa Italia match played at San Siro.

“We played against a strong team, both at group and individual level, in Inter. The balance should be maintained for as long as possible against such teams. I liked the personality we played with, creating a lot of chances and not letting ourselves get demoralised.”

He concluded, “With the same number of opportunities they scored six goals and we only finished two. We leave San Siro with regrets but I am happy with the performance nevertheless.”
