As part of a long interview with broadcaster DAZN, Crotone goalkeeper Alex Cordaz reflected on his time at Inter.

The now 36-year-old began his career with Inter and made one senior appearance during his time with the club that came to an end in 2006.

“Having had the good fortune of playing alongside some of the players I did at Inter was a privilege,” he said.

Cordaz then went on to discuss why he thinks things didn’t work out for him at the Nerazzurri.

“Unfortunately I had a hand injury. In a training match I saved a shot from Alvaro Recoba and broke bones in my hand. I had to have three operations and even a bone transplant and was kept out of action for a year.”

He then went on to reveal the reasoning behind why he has worn the number 71 on his shirt for spells of his career and why he has requested a pink goalkeeper jersey often in his career.

“This number is linked to my great passion for cycling. The number 71 was the number of Marco Pantani. It was the number he wore in his last victory at the Tour de France.

“The pink jersey is down to my passion for cycling too. I had it when I was with Treviso and also had it done at Crotone.”
